Tyler Adams could not have asked for a better starting debut with RB Leipzig Sunday.

The former Red Bulls standout was part of two goals in Leipzig’s 4-0 triumph at Fortuna Dusseldorf.

“Tyler had a great game,” said Yussuf Poulsen who had both his goals set up by the 19-year-old midfielder. “He won more or less every challenge in the first half. For such a young player playing his first game in a new team and a new league, he was very good.”

Adams set up the first of Poulsen’s goals by winning a corner kick only two minutes after kickoff.

By the 16th minute, he played a part in Poulsen’s second goal as he made the first pass in the build-up.

Adams played a tenacious defense in the middle of the field and while there might have been some miscommunication at time with his new teammates, the U.S. international enjoyed a strong game.

“We came in very well,” RB Leipzig’s Konrad Lamier said. “That gave us extra confidence and made the situation easier. Of course, I’m also happy about my goal, but I’m more pleased the important away three in Dusseldorf.”
