Former Red Bulls and Canadian international center back Karl Quimette has re-signed with Indy Eleven for the United Soccer League Championship season.

As per league and team policy, no details were available on the contract, which is pending USL and U.S. Soccer Federation approval

“Karl was one of our most consistent players last season. He played well in a number of different positions,” Indy head coach Martin Rennie said. “He’s very athletic and competitive. Karl’s a great player to have in the locker room and we’re glad that he’s coming back to our community.”

Ouimette started in 31 regular season matches last year and was tied for the second most appearances on the season.

The 26-year-old defender led the team in interceptions (67), tackles (67), duels won (247) and aerial duels won (151). Ouimette found the back of the net on three occasions, each goal assisted by returning defender Ayoze Garcia, a former member of the Cosmos.

“I’m very happy to be back with Indy Eleven this year. I really enjoyed the community, the people and especially the fans that came out to support us last year,” Ouimette said. “I’m excited to go back on the pitch and play.”
