NEW YORK – The Cosmos announced Monday the addition of forward Aaron Dennis to their 2019 roster.

The Elmont, N.Y. native played with the Cosmos Academy from 2010-11.

“I’m extremely excited to have signed with the Cosmos,” Dennis said. “Before I went away to college, I captained the U-18 Cosmos team and also got some experience with the U-23 side as well. It was always a dream of mine to play for the team professionally and the time has finally come.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the guys and getting to work.”

Dennis, 25, earned his first international call-ups, appearing for the U.S. Virgin Islands – his birth country – in two games in September in Concacaf Nations League qualification.

He most recently played for Penn FC in the United Soccer League and scored three goals in 22 appearances. He began his professional career with Arizona United – now Phoenix Rising FC – and also featured for Miami FC.

“It’s important to bring in local talent as we build our roster for the 2019 Founders Cup and NPSL season,” senior vice president Joe Barone said. “Aaron also has a history playing in our organization with the Cosmos Academy and we always want to give those players an opportunity when available.”

Dennis was the Cosmos’ third player signing of the preseason, joining captain and midfielder Danny Szetela and forward Bledi Bardic. Head coach Carlos Mendes also has signed on for the season.

More information on the team and 2019 NPSL Founders Cup will be announced at a later date.
