KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Former U.S. women’s international Michelle Akers and one-time coach Al Miller will be honored by the the Walt Chyzowych Fund, a charitable fund of the United Soccer Coaches Foundation, will be honored at the organization’s convention in Chicago.
Akers will receive the Distinguished Playing Career Award and college and professional Coach Al Miller will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Both recipients will be recognized at a ceremony on Jan. 12. To read more about each award winner click the links below.

The awards will be presented on Saturday, Jan. 12 at McCormick Place. Formal presentations will take place at 4 p.m. in Hyatt Regency Ballrooms B, C & D. The 2019 Chyzowych Award Ceremony and Reception is sponsored by Major League Soccer and the Chicago Fire.
The Walt Chyzowych Fund was founded after his passing in 1994 to honor his memory and promulgate his legacy as U.S. National Team coach and director of coaching. The fund helps provide coaching education scholarships to cover fees for up-and-coming young coaches.
