CHICAGO – Cindy Cone is the lone candidate for the U.S. Soccer Federation president after the former U.S. international forward was the lone person to complete the nomination process.

The vice presidential election will take place at the National Council Meeting during U.S. Soccer’s Annual General Meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona Saturday, Feb. 16.

During her playing days, Cone was known as Cindy Parlow before she was married.

The new VP will assume the office vacated by Carlos Cordeiro, who was elected U.S. Soccer president last February at the 2018 organization’s AGM.

Because this election is to fill a vacancy, the term of the newly elected vice president will last one year – finishing the current term – until the 2020 National Council Meeting at which the next vice presidential election will be held to elect a candidate to a full, four-year term.

The nomination process (detailed in Policy 401-1) kicked off in November and the deadline for potential candidates to submit the requirements was Tuesday, Dec. 18.
