YONKERS, N.Y. — In the first of three cup confrontations between these two Cosmopolitan Soccer League rivals, Lansdowne Bhoys recorded a 2-1 victory over Cedar Stars Academy to win the Eastern New York State Soccer Association title of the Fricker Cup at Tibbetts Brook Park Wednesday night.
Lansdowne, which was defeated by Cedar Stars in the Rapaglia Cup in September, will represent ENYSSA in the Region I bracket of the Fricker Cup.
O’Shane Jenkins snapped a 1-1 deadlock with a goal in the final 10 minute to lift Lansdowne to the win.
Daniel Cordeiro had lifted Cedar Stars into a 1-0 halftime edge before Aaron Dennis equalized early in the second half.
Lansdowne and Cedar Stars are hardly finished. They will meet in an ENYSSA State Cup semifinal match Sunday before facing off again in in the Amateur Cup final in Eastern New York next Tuesday.
