WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University women team left no doubt in a 7-1 victory over No. 3 Siena in Sunday’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship match at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

The top-seeded Hawks (16-3-1) built a 2-0 halftime lead and scored three times in the opening six minutes of the second half to pull away from the visiting Saints. Rookie Jesi Rossman scored twice on headers to open the second half as Monmouth doubled its lead to 4-0, before Alli DeLuca put one in in the 51st minute against Siena (11-8-3).

The Hawks had different goal scorers en route to their third straight MAAC Championship and 11th consecutive win overall.

“A terrific regular season capped off by an amazing championship weekend,” Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner said. “I am super proud of this team. We are excited to find out our next opponent for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.”

The Hawks will find out their NCAA Division I Tournament opponent on Monday at 4:30 p.m. during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, which will air live on NCAA.com.
