BROOKLINE, Mass. – Sophomore Lucy Porter scored the game-winner in the ninth minute as the Hofstra University women advanced to the Colonial Athletic Association Championship game with a 1-0 victory over Northeastern University at Parsons Field Sunday afternoon.

Hofstra (14-5-1) won its fourth consecutive game and extended its unbeaten streak to five games. The Pride also has eight shutouts.

Porter tallied her ninth goal of the season early on as freshman Miri Taylor had a give-and-go with senior Jenn Buoncore, who crossed the ball to Porter and she headed it home.

Hofstra had more of the chances in the opening half as it outshot the Huskies, 9-7. The Pride withstood a ton of pressure from Northeastern (10-9-1) in the second half as the home squad had a 13-2 shot advantage in the final 45 minutes. The Pride’s two goalies, seniors Jenna Borresen (3) and Ashley Wilson (5) combined for eight saves to preserve the win.

Hofstra will face James Madison in the final in Harrisonburg, Va. on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.
