CINCINNATI — The next game FC Cincinnati will play will be in Major League Soccer in 2019.

That’s because Red Bull II upset the top-seeded side in the Eastern Conference semifinals of the United Soccer League Playoffs at Nippert Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Amando Moreno scored the lone goal off a counterattack in the 13th minute and the visitors, led by goalkeeper Evan Louro (second consecutive shutout), made the score hold up as the visitors snapped Cincy’s 24-game unbeaten streak dating back to June.

NYRB II now has four-game road winning streak as it advanced to its fourth consecutive Eastern Conference final.

The Red Bull II defense has allowed six goals total in its past six matches.

NYRB II advanced to the conference final to face the winner of Louisville City FC and Bethlehem Steel. New York will travel to Louisville if the the latter wins and host Bethlehem if Steel prevails.

FC Cincinnati, one of the great USL success stories, will join MLS next year.
