BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women dropped a heart-breaking 2-1 extratime encounter to City University of New York Athletic Conference rival John Jay College at South Field Saturday.

The Bloodhounds scored the game-winner off a 40-yard free kick scored by defender Anneliese Tucci, which just got past Lightning goalkeeper Rebecca Gritz.

John Jay (10-4-1, 5-1-0) took the lead in the 34th minute with a tally from forward Gianna Russo off a cross inside the penalty area from midfielder Katie Healy.

Lehman (7-5-1, 3-2-0) battled back in the second half and got the equalizer from midfielder Melanie Siranaula who scored off a 25-yard free kick that beat goalkeeper Brittany Shaneberger.

Saturday’s encounter also bid farewell to five seniors – midfielders Daniela Castro, Jessica Chaca, Daisy Gomez, Julieth Noguez and defender Tawanda Kerr whom all played their final regular season game at home in a Lightning uniform.

Lehman, which already secured a postseason berth, concludes the regular season with its final CUNYAC match-up against CCNY on Wednesday at South Field. The result of Wednesday’s game will determine if the Lightning are seeded third or fourth for the CUNYAC Women’s Championship.
