Luke Brown scored the game-winner Wednesday night
ELON, N.C. – Luke Brown scored the go-ahead goal with just under 13 minutes to play as the Hofstra University men rallied for a 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association victory over Elon at Rudd Field Saturday night.
The Pride trailed, 1-0, early in the second half before scoring the final two goals.
The Phoenix (4-8-2, 1-5-1) took a 1-0 lead as Amir Berkane scored on a penalty kick at 47:26. The Pride got the equalizer on Lennart Seufert’s goal. The freshman sent a ball into the box that was bent inside the far post for his first career tally at 63:14.
The score remained that way until Brown sent a goal into an empty net following a collision at the top of the box between Hofstra’s Etienne Botty and Elon keeper Matthew Jieger. Botty got a head on the ball and sent it over Jieger and Brown finished for the game-winner.
Leo Arkanhelskyi made the start in goal for the Pride but did not make a save. Jieger had two saves in goal for The Phoneix.
Hofstra is back in action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when it steps out of conference for a road game at Brown.
