BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Daniela Castro and Melanie Siranaula scored two goals as apiece as the Lehman College women defeated City University of New York Athletic Conference rival Brooklyn College, 6-1, Wednesday.

The Lightning (7-4-1, 3-1-0) jumped all over the Bulldogs (3-9-0, 2-3-0), scoring three times in the opening 15 minutes.

Castro put Lehman on the board in the eighth minute as she gathered a loose ball in the box and buried it. A minute later Castro doubled the lead as she tallied her third this season on an assist from midfielder Yosselin Alvarez.

On Lehman’s third goal, midfielder Daisy Gomez found the back of the net, converting a pass from Castro. Ten minutes later Brooklyn got on the scoreboard as midfielder Keri Kenna notched her seventh this season.

Lehman pushed the advantage back up to three when midfielder Julieth Noguez scored her first goal of the season in the 33rd minute. Siranaula tallied two second-half goals.

The Lightning outshot the Bulldogs, 24-4, and owned a 7-0 advantage in corners.

Lehman goalkeeper Rebecca Gritz made three saves in earning her seventh victory.

Lehman hosts John Jay College at South Field in a key conference match-up at 11 a.m. Saturday Lehman will honor the seniors on the team in a pregame ceremony.
