BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College men secured a City University of New York Athletic Conference playoff berth after defeating CCNY, 2-0, in their final regular season home game at South Field Wednesday.

After a scoreless first half, midfielder Marcus Folkes got Lehman (6-8-1, 4-3-1) on the board in the 53rd minute with his first goal this season. The goal also ended the Lightning’s 473-minute scoreless streak.

Forward Sahl Alzubidi closed out the scoring with his sixth goal the 78th minute off an assist by midfielder Eduardo Victorio against the Beavers (2-10-1, 2-5-0).

Lightning goalkeeper Chris Mulholland saved five shots to earn his fourth shutout of the season.

Wednesday’s encounter also bid farewell to three seniors – defender Rafael Emiliano, midfielder Ralph Jean and Alzubidi as they played their final regular-season game at home.

Lehman, which will await other CUNYAC results this week to determine if it will host a playoff match next week, concludes the regular season with a non-conference match-up at New York University Saturday.
