CARY, N.C. — It took until Oct. 6, but Red Bull II finally won a United Soccer League road game.

Second-half substitute Tom Barlow snapped a 1-1 tie in the 79th minute to lift 10-man New York to a 2-1 victory over North Carolina FC at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park Saturday night.

NYRB II (11-8-13, 46 points) moved back above the playoff line and into eighth place in the Eastern Conference with two matches remaining.

Anatole Abang, who scored the visitors’ first goal, was red-carded at halftime for an off the ball incident, forcing Red Bull II to play a man down the rest of the match.

He tallied his second goal of the season in the 24th minute off a corner kick. Abang has scored both his goals this year against North Carolina FC (12-12, 8, 44).

Barlow tallied his seventh goal of the season and game-winner, finishing a rebounded shot deflection in the 79th minute.

New York goalkeeper Evan Louro made five saves.

NYRB II face a quick turnaround with a Tuesday 7 p.m. match at Penn FC.
