Fernando Robayo headed in a Matt McGlinchey cross for the equalizer for the Stages (5-4-0, 2-0-0) at 81:41 before  Jonathan Filipe tapped it in a deflected shot at 88:47.

Monmouth redshirt freshman goalkeeper Sean Murray made a career-high nine saves, including a diving stop on a penalty kick in the 47th minute.

Senior Luke Bromley scored his second goal of the season in the 29th minute, heading home a feed from freshman Michael Neff. The Hawks (2-7-1, 0-3-0) will travel to Niagara Saturday.

“It was a little frustrating since we went up a goal, but to be fair, I thought Fairfield played quite well,” Monmouth head coach Robert McCourt said. “They are a well-coached and veteran team. We just have to stick together and keep fighting.”
