HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – In a battle between the top two teams in the Colonial Athletic Association standings, undefeated Northeastern University came away with a 1-0 victory over the Hofstra University women at Hofstra Soccer Stadium Thursday night.

The Huskies improved to 5-0 in the CAA and 8-6-1 overall, extending their winning streak to five games. Hofstra saw a two-game winning streak end and fell to 3-2 in league play and 9-5 overall.

Northeastern tallied the lone goal in the 26th-minute as Chelsea Domond took a long pass from Lizzie George at the top of the box and made a quick move through two defenders before lifting a shot over Jenna Borresen and into the back of the net.

It was only the second goal that Borresen has allowed this season. She has conceded only four in 33 matches for the Pride.

Hofstra had several scoring chances, but goalkeeper Nathalie Nidetch made six saves to post her fifth shutout of the season. The senior had five saves in the second half.

Hofstra is back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. when it hosts William & Mary at 1 p.m.
