YONKERS, N.Y. — So, there is a force on earth that can stop Cedar Stars Academy from winning a game.
Mother Nature had the last word Tuesday night as CSA and Lansdowne Bhoys were pulled off the Tibbet Brook Park in the 55th minute due to lightning.
Cedar Stars was leading at the time, 1-0, in the highly anticipated match in a rematch of last year’s Cosmopolitan Soccer League championship game. Lansdowne won that confrontation via penalty kicks.
It was not immediately known when the game would be completed.
Cosmos B forward Bledi Bardic, off a Dilly Duka pass, had given CSA a 1-0 halftime lead.
The match was the first between the two First Division sides since the championship contest and the first between the rivals since former Lansdowne head coach Austin Friel became Cedar Stars coach last month.
In the Rapaglia Cup last month, CSA rolled over Lansdowne, 4-1.
In the CSL, the teams have gotten off to varied starts.
Entering Tuesday night’s game, Cedar Stars is tied with the N.Y. Pancyprian Freedoms for the First Division lead with 3-0-0 marks. CSA has outscored its opposition, 18-2.
Lansdowne is in ninth place with a 0-2-0 record.
