HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Hofstra University freshman midfielder Miri Taylor was named the Colonial Athletic Association women’s soccer rookie of the week and defender Marcus Lindqvist was named CAA men’s co-[layer of the week, it was announced Monday by the conference office.

Taylor, a Gillingham, England native, scored goals in two victories last week as the Pride moved to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in CAA play. She netted her first career goal in a 1-0 home victory over the University of Delaware Thursday night and then scored the first goal in a 2-1 win over UNCW on Sunday.

She has two goals and an assist this season and will be back in action Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Pride hosts Northeastern University at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.

Lindqvist, a native of Oslo, Norway, played a key role in two Hofstra wins last week. He scored his first career goal in the 1-0 victory over Drexel University, a team that was receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll. He followed that up with an assist in a 4-0 win over William & Mary. He also helped a Pride defense that has not allowed a goal in seven consecutive games, the longest streak in the nation.

Lindqvist has a goal and a team-high three assists this season. He and his Pride teammates will be back in action Saturday at 7 p.m. at Delaware.
