WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Lexie Palladino’s first-half goal propelled the Monmouth University women to a 1-0 victory over Siena College in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Hesse Field on the Great Lawn Saturday night.

The Hawks, who won their third consecutive match, improved to 8-3-1, 3-1-0 while Siena fell to 3-6-3, 0-1-2.

“Tonight was a terrific performance,” Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner said. “The coaching staff is very proud of the team of the quality of soccer we are playing right now. Hopefully we can continue to improve day by day.”

The goal was a result of a clinical bit of passing that began with rookie midfielder Jill Conklin. She sent a ball to the endline for Dana Scheriff, who sent a low cross into the penalty area for Palladino, who ran in and one-timed a shot past goalkeeper Taylor Dorado.

It was Palladino’s team-best fifth goal this season.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Knaub made four saves for her sixth shutout this season and has 26 shutouts in her career.

Dorado was stellar in goal and made several saves to keep the Siena within striking distance. She totaled 12 saves.

The Hawks travel to Buffalo, N.Y. for a matchup with Canisius College Wednesday at 4 p.m.
