RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Dana Scheriff’s goal in the 100th minute lifted the Monmouth University women to a 1-0 extratime victory over Manhattan College in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Gaelic Park Wednesday night.

Scheriff’s game-winner came with 17 seconds remaining in the first extra session after a run down the right sideline by Sarina Jones helped set up the goal. Her right-footed cross found Lexie Palladino, who fired a low shot that was parried by the Manhattan keeper into the path of Scheriff, who one-timed it into the empty net.

The Hawks (7-3-1, 2-1-0) dictated the action throughout a majority of the match and held a 7-1 advantage in shots before halftime and a 21-1 edge during regulation time. Manhattan fell to 1-5-2, 0-2-1.

“We gutted out a win on the road. We created a lot of chances all night and did a great job minimizing their opportunities,” Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner said.

Monmouth returns home to Hesse Field on the Great Lawn to host Siena Saturday at 7 p.m.
