ELON, N.C. – Goalkeeper Alex Ashton made four saves for the Hofstra University men, who played to a 0-0 draw against 11th-ranked UNCW at Rudd Field on the campus of Elon University Saturday afternoon.

The game was played at the neutral site due to the affects Hurricane Florence had on the Wilmington area.

Hofstra moved to 3-3-3 and extended its unbeaten streak to five games (3-0-2). The Seahawks, who were playing for the first time in nearly two weeks, are 5-1-1.

The teams played to a scoreless tie at the end of the opening 45 minutes with both teams taking three shots and one shot on goal. But Hofstra started out strong in the second half, taking three shots on goal in the first 15 minutes of the half. But UNCW keeper Ryan Cretens was up to the task and kept the game scoreless. Cretens would finish with six saves on the day.

Ashton, who entered the game with four consecutive shutouts, was equally good and stopped all four UNCW scoring chances for his fifth clean sheet.

Hofstra hosts Drexel at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
