HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Matthew Vowinkel’s goal in the 74th minute broke a scoreless tie and goalkeeper Alex Ashton made four saves as the Hofstra University men extended their winining streak to three games and unbeaten streak to four with a 1-0 victory over Dartmouth College at Hofstra Soccer Stadium Tuesday night.

Vowinkel, who has scored in three consecutive matches, headed in a cross from the left side by Storm Strongin for his fourth goal of the season.

The Big Green (0-4-2) did not go quietly as they peppered the Pride (3-3-2) defense with nine shots in the final 16 minutes. But just two were on target and Ashton was up to the task as he recorded his fourth consecutive shutout. Ashton has not allowed a goal in 382:17.

Dartmouth enjoyed a 15-6 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in shots on goal. The Big Green also had seven corner kicks to Hofstra’s five.
