KINGS POINT, N.Y. — The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy won its fourth game in fifth try as it defeated the Lehman College men, in a non-league match at Brooks Stadium Saturday afternoon.

USMMA (4-1) jumped out to 4-0 lead in the first half, with sophomore midfielder Zack Lysakowski scoring twice, while junior forward David Germain and sophomore midfielder Joe Clark adding a goal apiece.

After freshman defender Abram Ehrhorn made it 5-0 in the 58th minute into the second half, senior forward Sahl Alzubidi got Lehman (2-4) on the board in the 74th minute with a penalty kick. Germain closed out the scoring for USMMA with his second goal in the 83rd minute.

The Mariners outshot the Lightning, 26-10 (13-5 on goal).

Lehman junior goalkeeper Chris Mulholland made four saves in 63rd minutes, while freshman netminder Demiraldo Grunasi played the final 27 minutes and had three stops.

The defending City University of New York Athletic Conference champion Lehman travels to Randall’s Island to take on John Jay College Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the first conference encounter for both teams.
