NEW YORK – Monique Iannella and Jordan Littleboy scored first-half goals and the Hofstra University women turned in a strong defensive effort en route a 2-0 win over Columbia University at Rocco Commisso Stadium Thursday night.
The Pride, which finished a five-game road stretch at 3-2, improved to 5-3 while Columbia dropped to 3-3-1.
The visitors got on the board in the 12th minute as Iannella converted a penalty kick for her first goal of the season. Littleboy doubled the advantage in the 31st minute, taking a pass from Jenn Buoncore and redirecting it past goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse for the first of her career. Buoncore’s assist was her team-high fourth of the season.
Hofstra limited the Lions to nine shots with two of them on goal. Hofstra managed 10 shots and only three on goal.
Pride goalkeepers Jenna Borresen and Ashley Wilson split duties with each called on to make one save. Whitehouse had one save.
Hofstra hosts Stony Brook University Sunday at 1 p.m.
