BRONX, N.Y. – The Lehman College women remained unbeaten after topping Sarah Lawrence College, 2-1, at South Field Tuesday night.

The Lightning (2-0-1) fell behind early in the first half with when the Gryphons’ (1-1) Kiley Ritter found the back of the net in the fifth minute after a loose ball in the penalty box and freshman forward fired a low shot past sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Gritz for a 1-0 lead.

Senior midfielder Daisy Gomez scored the equalizer for Lehman in the 37th minute-mark off an assist from freshman midfielder Marissa Soriano.

Two minutes before halftime, Gomez dished out pass to sophomore forward Emily Herrera, whose shot beat goalkeeper Madison Mertsch and gave the Lightning a lead it did not relinquish.

Lehman outshot Sarah Lawrence, 10-7, but teams where leveled on the shots on target 5-5. Gritz made four saves.

The Lightning hit the road as it visits New Jersey City University Monday at 4 p.m.
