MALIBU, CALIF. – A 29th-minute goal from Pepperdine’s Hailey Stenberg was the difference maker in Sunday’s game at the St. John’s University women dropped their second game on the west coast, 1-0 at Tari Frahm Rokus Field Sunday.

The Johnnies lost at Long Beach State, 6-0, Friday night.

The Red Storm (3-5-0) saw its best scoring opportunity of the game come 13 minutes into the second half, as Christine McBeath and Michelle Money registered back-to-back shot attempts. The sequence began with a corner kick from Samie Scaffidi, who found McBeath near the top of the box. Her shot was blocked by a Pepperdine defender, but the rebound found the foot of Money, who sent a shot just wide.

Pepperdine (2-5) outshot the Johnnies 17-6.

Red Storm goalkeeper Meredith Reinhardt registered six saves.

The Waves snapped the scoreless tie in the 29th minute. Pepperdine’s Katy Byrne played the ball across for Hailey Harbison, who sent it to the left corner of the net.

St. John’s welcomes the University of Delaware at Belson Stadium Friday at 7 p.m.
