INDIANAPOLIS — Former Cosmos forward Eugene Starikov struck twice in the first half to pace Indy Eleven to a 3-0 victory over Red Bull II in United Soccer League action at Lucas Oil Stadium Wednesday night.
NYRBII (10-8-10, 40 points), which outshot the hosts, 26-10, still hasn’t won on the road this season. Indy (45) improved to 12-7-9.
Less than two minutes after the opening kickoff, Starikov gave Indy all the scoring as he connected off a Dylan Mares feed for a 1-0 lead. Mares recently signed with Indy after leading Miami FC 2 to the National Premier Soccer League championship.
Starikov doubled the lead in the 21st minute off a Matthew Watson pass.
Reiner Ferreira finished off the scoring as Seth Moses assisted in the 43rd minute.
Andreas Ivan made his NYRB II debut, logging 58 minutes as the Red Bulls are off for the international break.
Red Bull II returns home to face TFC II at MSU Soccer Park Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
