U.S. women’s national team midfielder McCall Zerboni suffered a broken left elbow early in the 4-0 win over Chile in San Jose, Calif. Wednesday night and will miss the remainder of the National Women’s Soccer League season for the North Carolina Courage.

Zerboni suffered the injury during a hard fall after a clash with a Chile player and had to be replaced in the fifth minute.

Zerboni, who last year became the oldest player to earn a cap with the national team, has played in seven international matches this year and had made her second career start in the game.

The San Clemente, Calif. native has been instrumental in helping the Courage capture its second consecutive NWSL shield, appearing in 20 games and recording three goals and one assist.

The Courage return to action in its regular season finale against the Houston Dash Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
