MADISON, Wis. –Johannes Pieles scored 1:23 into the second extratime to give the 15th-ranked Fordham University men a 1-0 win over the the University of Wisconsin at McClimon Stadium Saturday night.

The Rams improved to 2-0, while Wisconsin fell to 1-2-0 as Fordham recorded its first win over a Big Ten opponent.

Fordham goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu, who made his 2018 debut, recorded 25th career shutout.

In extratime, Fordham almost ended the game on multiple occasions in the first 10 minutes with three corner kicks and shots on goal by both Sameer Fathazada and Pieles, but both attempts were denied keeper Dean Cowdroy.

Pieles though would not be denied in the second extra session. After a foul by the Badgers, Janos Loebe lined up a free kick from 35 yards on the right side. He sent his cross in left to right through the box. Pieles snuck behind the back line and redirected the ball into the right side of the net for his first goal of the season.

The Rams finish up their stay in Wisconsin Monday, when they face Northwestern University at 1 p.m.
