MONTCLAIR, N.J. — Jared Stroud scored the lone goal as Red Bull II recorded a 1-0 victory over 10-man Ottawa Fury in a United Soccer League match a MSU Soccer Park Friday night.
NYRBII, which is 10-3-2 at home, improved to 10-7-10 with 40 points as it climbed into seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Ottawa (35) fell to 10-13-5.
Stroud tallied his fifth goal of the season in the ninth minute, assisted by Jose Aguinaga.
Ottawa’s Eddie Edward was given a straight red card in the 54th minute for a handball in the box while denying a Stroud scoring opportunity. Anatole Abang’s penalty kick was saved.
Academy player Jared Juleau was part of the NYRB II 18-man squad for the first time.
NYRB II will travel to Indianapolis to face Indy Eleven at Lucas Oil Stadium on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
