QUEENS, N.Y. – Coming off a 2-1 loss at Drexel University, the St. John’s University women return home on Sunday night as they will look to remain undefeated this season at Belson Stadium vs. host Stony Brook University.

Game time is 7 p.m.

The Johnnies enter with a 2-3 record after falling to Drexel, 2-1. The Dragons controlled the early portion of the match recording two goals in the opening half. Zsani Kajan helped St. John’s get on the board in the 88th minute off a penalty kick. With her goal tally in five matches, the redshirt sophomore has already surpassed her goal total from 2017.

Goalkeeper Jordan Kamp saw action for the second time this season. In 45 minutes, the redshirt sophomore recorded a season-high five saves to hold Drexel scoreless during the second half.

Stony Brook comes to Queens with a 2-3 mark, having lost on the road to Boston College Wednesday, 3-0. The Seawolves’ two victories came against Oregon State University, 2-1, in their second game of the season Aug. 19 and Seton Hall University, 1-0, Aug. 26. Sophomore Alyssa Francese has paced the Seawolves, recording two of the team’s four goals.

The Red Storm and Stony Brook share a series history dating back to 1987. In 22 all-time meetings, St. John’s holds a 12-7-3 advantage. The teams last met in 2015 when Rachel Daly, now with the Houston Dash of the National Women’s Soccer League, broke a scoreless tie in the 80th minute to secure a 1-0 victory for the Johnnies at Stony Brook.

During the game , the Red Storm will pair up with the Go4theGoal foundation to raise funds and generate awareness for pediatric cancer. Each of the athletes will be sporting a pair of gold laces as a representation for those children battling cancer.
