BRONX — Forward Jenn Buoncore scored on either side of halftime to lift the Hofstra University women to a 3-1 victory over Fordham University in a non-league game at Jack Coffey Field Thursday night.

The Pride improved to 3-1 on the season, while Fordham dropped to 0-4.

Hofstra got things started early, with sophomore Lucy Shepherd  netting her first of the season on a pass from classmate Jordan Littleboy in the third minute. Hofstra then continued to carry the momentum, with Buoncore getting her first of the night in the 20th minute, capitalizing on a three-on-two with sophomore Sabrina Bryan.

The Rams regrouped and pulled a goal back in the 33rd minute with a free kick strike from Margaret Roughley that found the upper corner, cutting the lead in half.

But Hofstra reasserted its dominance early in the second half, with Buoncore scoring her second of the game on Littleboy’s second assist of the night.

The Pride backline was once again solid, with Fordham mustering just the one shot on goal.

Hofstra stays on the road this weekend, heading to No. 6 Virginia for a 1 p.m. contest Sunday.
