QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John’s University women will celebrate head coach Ian Stone and his 25 seasons at the helm of the program during the weekend of Sept. 14.
The two-day event will kick off on Friday with a 7 p.m. matchup against the University of Delaware at Belson Stadium. Stone will be recognized for his accomplishments with the program.
On Saturday, Sept. 15, there will be a luncheon held in Taffner Field House on the Queens campus at 1 p.m. Regular admission is $100, admission for those under 21 years of age is $50 and all children ages eight and under are free of charge.
All proceeds will go to the women’s soccer program for a variety of needs including facility upgrades, state-of-the-art technology and equipment, as well as travel and academic support. Donations can be one-time payments or payable over a specific time frame.
The celebration will consist of an auction along with speeches from Stone and former St. John’s players.
Stone has played a significant role in the Red Storm’s success as he is winningest coach in program history. He has guided the Johnnies to 17 postseason tournament appearances and three NCAA Division I Tournament berths (2009, 2013, 2015).
The Bristol, England native also has earned a number of individual coaching accolades, including two-time Big East coach of the year (2006 and 2015). Coach Stone is also a three-time winner of the St. John’s Herbert Hess coach of the year award, winning in 1998, 2008 and 2016.
