BOSTON — Stony Brook University sophomore goalkeeper Sofia Manner and freshman Mari Brenden each earned America East women’s soccer weekly honors, which was announced by the league office Monday morning.
Manner was named conference defensive player of the week, while Brenden was selected rookie of the week honors. Binghamton University’s Kayla Saager was the conference offensive player of the week.
Brenden, a native of Oslo, Norway, put away the game-winner at Seton Hall University Sunday afternoon for the first career goal. It was the Seaworlves’ second win over a highly rated team this season.
Manner recorded her first shutout of the season at Seton Hall, picking up her second win. The Helsinki, Finland native allowed one goal in two games last week, after also holding No. 20 Notre Dame scoreless through regulation.
