QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John’s University women dominated Sacred Heart University in a 3-0, wire-to-wire win at Belson Stadium Monday night.
Preseason All-Big East selection Christina Bellero kicked off scoring, powering a strike to the lower left side of the net in the 20th minute.
Zsani Kajan added to the lead in the 60th minute with her second goal of the season. Less than 15 minutes later, freshman Kayla Mesaros recorded her first collegiate goal to complete the scoring.
Goalkeeper Meredith Reinhardt made two saves to record her first clean sheet with the Red Storm.
Kajan, Lucy Whipp and Maia Cabrera each registered an assist.
The Johnnies outshot the Pioneers, 27-7. This marked the most shots taken by a St. John’s team since Sept. 29, 2013, when the Red Storm recorded a 30 against Creighton.
St. John’s visits Philadelphia for a 7 p.m. Thursday contest with Drexel University.
