SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The St. John’s University men dropped their season opener, falling to UC Santa Barbara, 2-0, Friday night.

Carter Clemmensen broke a scoreless deadlock in the 41st minute. Thirty minutes later, UCSB added another tally off the foot of Michael Rodney to put the game out of reach.

UCSB outshot the Red Storm, 12-5.

St. John’s goalkeeper Lenny Wilson made two saves.

The Johnnies visit Loyola Marymount Sunday at 7 p.m.
