Sky Blue FC midfielder Raquel Rodriguez has been called into the Costa Rican national team for Central American qualifying for the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship.

The Ticas will compete against El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama in a round-robin tournament in Bradenton, Fla., Aug. 25-Sept. 1, which will qualify the two top finishers to the Championship.

Costa Rica will meet El Salvador Monday Aug. 27 against El Salvador, Nicaragua Wednesday, Aug. 29 and against Panama on Friday, Aug. 31. All matches will be played at 10 a.m. ET.

The top two teams will qualify for the CONCACAF Championship, which will be held at three U.S. venues in October.

“We will try to conform to the best team that can face these games,” Costa Rica head coach Amelia Valverde said. “It will be a very tight competition, with little time to recover, so we are thinking of all those details before giving the final list.

“Every international participation we plan always thinking about giving the best, as we did in the Central American and Caribbean Games, but for no one is a secret that our goal is to qualify for a new World Cup.”

The 2019 Women’s World Cup will be held in France.
