BRONX, N.Y. – Steven Torres was named sports information assistant of Lehman College, director of athletics Dr. Martin L. Dwiren announced Monday.
Torres will assist Lehman’s director of sports information, Lenn Margolis, with communications of its 18 (nine men’s and nine women’s) NCAA Division III athletic teams which compete as member of City of New York Athletic Conference.
“We are pleased to have Steven join Lehman,” Zwiren said. “His previous experience speaks for itself and I know he will be an excellent addition our athletic staff.”
Torres brings vast experience of national and international sports communications to Lehman after having worked with organizations such as U.S. Soccer Federation, North American Soccer League, CONCACAF and FIFA.
No stranger to collegiate sports information, Torres began his career as SID Assistant with U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y. from 1998-99. He also assisted at SID offices of Hunter College (1998) and Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus (1995-97), prior to joining Kings Point. During his SID tenure each men’s basketball team from all three institutions reached its respective NCAA Tournaments.
“I’m very honored and excited for this appointment and I look forward to providing my communications’ efforts to all athletic teams in Lehman,” Torres said.
A graduate from LIU-Brooklyn in 1998 with a degree in journalism, Torres resides in New York City.
