Sorry, there will be no Lionel Messi on the Argentina national team when it plays Colombia in an international friendly at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Sept. 11 at 8 p.m.

The team’s roster was released Friday.

Messi has performed at the stadium, his most memorable appearance was in the Copa America Centenario final in 2016, when the Argentines lost to Chile on penalty kicks. After the game, the Barcelona player said he was going to retire from international soccer, but he returned to play for Argentina in the 2018 World Cup.

Among the players who are on the roster are Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi and Paris St-Germain midfielder Giovani Lo Celso. None of those players have scored for Argentina yet.
