David Villa, who missed last week’s 2-2 home draw with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, is available to play at Toronto FC Sunday at 4 p.m.

The New York City FC captain, who has recovered from a knee injury, could not play against Vancouver because he missed the Aug. 1 MLS all-star game, according to league regulations.

Villa, who has eight goals and four assists over 10 starts and 13 appearances, has missed seven consecutive matches. He last played in a 2-1 win over Toronto FC June 24.

Goalkeeper Sean Johnson took part in training this past week, but he remains questionable for the game. Brad Stuver made his NYCFC debut in his place.

Midfielder Yangel Herrera is out for the season with an ankle injury and defender Cedric Hountondji is sidelined with a hamstring avulsion.

Toronto FC’s Chris Mavinga will serve a one-game suspension for a red card in the closing stages of the away draw at Atlanta United.

Defender Drew Moor is out with a quadricep strain.
