WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University women’s head coach Krissy Turner Wednesday announced the addition of former Hawk Gabriella Cuevas (class of 2018) as an assistant coach.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gabby to the staff,” Turner said. “She is an amazing young woman who excelled for us on the field and has a lot to give back from a coaching perspective. Gabby impacted our program from the minute she arrived and will continue to do so in her new role.”

Cuevas, who spent two seasons at Monmouth while earning a master’s degree in social work, helped the Hawks win consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships in 2016 and 2017. A second team All-MAAC selection in 2016, Cuevas earned first team All-MAAC honors in 2017 as well as MAAC defensive player of the year recognition. The former team captain also became the third Monmouth women’s soccer student-athlete to earn a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region First Team award following final season.

Monmouth opens its 2018 season Friday, August 17 at 7 p.m. when it hosts NJIT at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.
