If you can’t get enough of Soccer Sam on his Saturday morning soccer radio show, Kick This!, you will have an opportunity listen to him for three hours Wednesday morning.

Soccer Sam — aka Salvatore Fantauzzo — will be subbing for regular host Bob Lonsberry on his show on WHAM (1180 AM) from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

He expects to devote an hour to politics and another hour to sports, among other subjects.

On his Saturday radio gig last weekend, Soccer Sam said that he might have some “possible news about indoor soccer returning to Rochester, N.Y.”

“I have a very important meeting on Monday and if I can pull off the right things, indoor soccer may be back in Rochester, N.Y., ” he added.

Under Fantauzzo’s stewardship, the Rochester Lancers returned as an indoor soccer team in the Major Indoor Soccer League and then the Major Arena Soccer League from 2011-2015.

He has been trying to find the proper venue in the city for the team, whether it was the downtown Blue Cross Arena, The Dome in suburban Henrietta or the ice hockey rink at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Fantauzzo said that he also hoped to have on David and/or Wendy Dworkin, the Rochester Rhinos co-owners. He said that wants to know whether they will sign a lease with the City of Rochester for Marina Auto Stadium and return to action in the United Soccer League in 2019 after taking a hiatus this past season.

Dr. Severko Hrywnak, owner of the Rochester RazorSharks of the Premier Basketball League, is scheduled to be on the broadcast “because there are rumors that the RazorSharks are not coming back,” Fantauzzo said.

“There are some issues,” he added. “Dr. Seve said he was going to come on and clear the air and tell us what they’re doing.”

Jeff Calkins, who was general manager of the Blue Cross Arena, also is slated to be on the show.

“He’s a Rochester institution on what he’s done in his job role with the City of Rochester running SMG and the events they have brought in over the years and the success of the sports teams that were there in that arena over the years,” Fantauzzo said.

“It’s a pretty jammed show lined up.

“It’s exciting times and I can’t wait for Wednesday.”
