HARRISON, N.J. – Red Bulls midfielder Florian Valot underwent successful surgery to repair a torn ACL with team doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery Wednesday afternoon.

Valot suffered the injury during practice at the Red Bulls Training Facility in East Hanover, N.J. July 5.

“Surgery went well, road to recovery starts today!” Valot said on Twitter Wednesday. “Once again thank you all for your continued support and love messages through this journey. You guys make it easier.”

The French midfielder contributed three goals and five assists in 14 Major League Soccer appearances to start this season, after being promoted from NYRB II and signing his first MLS contract in December.

Valot has been placed on season-ending injury reserve and will begin rehab to return for the 2019 season.
