St. John’s University will celebrate Ian Stone’s 25th season at the helm of the Red Storm women’s soccer program in September.
Stone will be honored with pregame reception in Belson Suite at Belson Stadium prior to the Red Storm taking on the University of Delaware in Queens, N.Y. Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
More details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Stone is the winningest coach in program history, with a record of 227-181-50 (.550). He is the third-longest tenured head coach at the university.
His teams have made 17 postseason tournament appearances and three NCAA Division I Tournament berths (2009, 2013, 2015).
In addition to his teams earnng home several championships (1994 Big East Tournament, 2002 ECAC Championship and 2015 Big East regular season), Stone also has earned several individual coaching accolades. Twice he been named the Big East coach of the year (2006 and 2015) and taken home NSCAA Northeast Region coach of the year honors (2009 and 2015). Stone is also a three-time winner of the St. John’s Herbert Hess Coach of the Year award, winning in 1998, 2008 and 2016.
Stone’s teams have eanr received 13 consecutive National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Awards from 2003-2013 and made it 14 out of 15 in 2017 (the NSCAA is now called United Soccer Coaches).
