BROOKLYN, N.Y. — James Thristino recorded a hat-trick, including two goals within a five-minute span in the second half, to pace the Brooklyn Italians to a 3-0 victory over Hartford City FC in the North Atlantic Conference semifinals of the National Premier Soccer League playoffs Wednesday night.
The Italians hosted the match at the Long Island University Brooklyn Athletic Complex.
Brooklyn will meet Cosmos B, 4-2 extratime winners over Elm City Express in the other semifinal Wednesday at Commisso Stadium in Manhattan Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The winner will reach the Northeast Regionals next week.
Thristino gave Brooklyn all the scoring it needed in the 11th minute before exploding for goals in the 60th and 65th minutes to put the game out of reach.
The Italians and Cosmos B have met twice before this year, with Brooklyn prevailing, 3-2 in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play-in match May 6.
Cosmos B recorded a 2-1 home win over the Italians at Hofstra Soccer Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. May 15.
