CHICAGO – U.S. international defender Meghan Klingenberg has been suspended from Portland Thorns FC’s next match.

The National Women’s Soccer League’s disciplinary committee announced Thursday that it has suspended Klingenberg for one game and fined her an undisclosed amount for violent conduct.

The committee determined Klingenberg was involved in a major game misconduct in an incident with Seattle Reign FC midfielder Allie Long, a Northport, N.Y. native, in the 13th minute of Portland 1-0 loss to Seattle Reign FC June 30.

Klingenberg will serve the suspension against Utah Royals FC Friday.
