As expected, David Villa won’t be suiting up for New York City FC for its Saturday encounter at the Chicago Fire.

The NYCFC captain and striker injured his knee in the 2-1 victory over Toronto FC at Yankee Stadium Sunday.

After the match, new head coach Domenec Torrent said the Spanish international could miss from one to two weeks.

So, Villa could be sidelined next week’s Hudson River Derby against the Red Bulls at the Stadium.

He has joined Ronald Matarrita, Cedric Hountondji and Yangel Herrera on the sidelines.

Villa leads City with eight goals. He also has four assists.

Forward Rodney Wallace was on his way back to the U.S. after Costa Rica had been elimianted from the World Cup.
