The Levittown Rage eked out a 1-0 win over the Eleftheria/Pancyprian Spartans to take the Boys Under-18 State Open Cup in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association competition the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview, N.Y. June 9.

The Rage play in the Long Island Junior Soccer League, the Spartans in the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League.

“We played Eleftheria/Pancyprian before, winning 7-1 on turf,” Levittown coach Manfred Kapper said. “They are very well-coached and we could not adjust to their rhythm and played more kick-and-run, unfortunately, than our normal possession game.”

John Murphy scored the only goal of the game and goalkeeper Mavin Kakkar recorded the shutout.

Levittown will represent ENYYSA at the Region I tournament in Spotsylvania, Va. June 29-July 3.
