BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Red Bull II squandered a two-goal lead in the final minutes against Bethlehem Steel FC and was forced to settle for a 2-2 United Soccer League draw at Goodman Stadium Wednesday night.

The visitors enjoyed a 2-0 advantage behind two Stefano Bonomo goals before Bethlehem tallied in the 88th minute and four minutes into stoppage time to split the points.

Matt Mahoney sliced the lead in half before James Chambers knotted things up on the last kick of the match.

NYRBII (5-4-6, 21 points), which moved into a three-way tie for sixth place in the Eastern Conference with Indy Eleven and the Charleston Battery, earned its first road point since May. Red Bull II has registered at least one point in five of eight road matches this season but is still winless in them.

Bonomo, wearing the captain’s armband, got the scoring started in the 12th minute by finishing off a penalty kick after Ben Mines was fouled.

He doubled his tally in the 66th, scoring his third goal of the season. Bonomo, who led NYRB II in scoring last season, recorded his first brace of the season.

NYRB II will return home to MSU Soccer Park for four of the next five matches, beginning with Ottawa Fury FC Sunday at 5 p.m.
