Red Bull Arena will host a club friendly between Colombian sides Atletico Nacional and America de Cali Tuesday, July 17 at 8 p.m.

Atletico Nacional, also known as Los Verdolagas, is based in Medellin and is one of only three teams to have played in every first division tournament in the country’s history. The team was runners-up to the 2018 Liga Aguila Apertura tournament as it lost to Deportes Tolima in a shootout. Atletico is one of the most successful Colombian clubs, having won the league 16 times, three Copa Colombia titles and two SuperLiga Colombiana championships. The club has won seven international trophies, including two Copa Libertadores crowns. Former Red Bulls striker and captain Juan Pablo Angel began his career at Nacional, helping them win a championship in 1994.

America de Cali, also known as Los Diablos Rojos, is one of the most successful soccer clubs in Colombia, having won 13 national championships since 1927. They also were the runner-up of the Copa Libertadores for three consecutive years, from 1985 to 1987, and again in 1996. In 2011, América was relegated to the local second division and played for five seasons before being promoted to the Categoria Primera A in 2016.
